About Me

When I was little, I liked to draw pictures with words. When I grew up I discovered that I could put pictures with words and call it a career as a designer. Recently, I’ve fallen in love with being behind the lens and helping brides, grooms, couples and families form their own words when they see themselves in pictures.

I am inspired most by three little beauties that were given to me by my Creator, and I like to spend time with my high school sweetheart who gets to live his own dream, driving around our town in a big red fire truck.

Hampton Family No. 1 — Trevor on his board

I’ve been hoping for a boy senior session just so I can see the difference between shooting teen girls and teen boys, but haven’t gotten to do that just yet. As I photographed Trevor and his brother yesterday for a family session it made me wonder about my boys at this age, and just what they’ll be like. I imagine one of them will like a skateboard just as much as Trevor did his. We found this spot in Covington and it couldn’t have called for a chill out moment on a board any better.

Dreaming big — The smallest player

I have such a library of unseen photos that I've made it a goal of mine throughout the rest of the spring to really get a handle on my image library. Of course, not purely for creative reasons, it would be great to find a gem that I can put towards my salary ... but I do find such creative expression in looking through unseen photos in my library and revealing them to eyes that haven't seen them before. (Another good reason for keeping a blog!)

I came across this image at least a month after going to a Notre Dame game last November. My husband and I were so focused on watching these guys play the Rudy theme song (wish that I could have also captured that moment on video!) that I completely missed this little guy on the left until I looked through my photos at home, days later. I couldn't help but keep returning to this photo and thinking how it was so incredible that he'll probably end up in this band 10-15 years from now, maybe even with my own children. Photos are .. incredible.

Toole Newborn No. 2 — Triptych

In a few short hours I’ll be heading back to see little Patrick and his mom Stacy for his official newborn shots (he’s around 3 weeks now!) but I wanted to post a little triptych I made from his hospital shots today. Looking forward to seeing how much he has changed tomorrow.

Spring chickens + bunnies — Crafts N Things April Issue

In celebration of the nice spring day that has appeared in southern Ohio today I thought I would post my work that I did for the April issue of Crafts N Things magazine. This issue is packed full of spring goodies, so if you’re wanting some nice Easter gifts or just want to celebrate spring by crafting in the sunshine — go grab yourself a copy of the April issue that should be on newstands now. I was fortunate enough again to photograph the sweetest little creations by crafter Heidi Boyd.

    Happy Spring everyone!

    Oliver at home

Just one more little sampling of Oliver’s session from this weekend for Betsy and Charlie to see. Oliver was born 5 days after my little guy, and I love that he is just as chubby as mine! I was jealous of his curls though, as I have hoped for at least one of mine to have curls but it it’s not looking so good for me. As you can tell by his shirt, he’s going to be a big brother! Looking forward to capturing him outside in April. Thank you Charlie and Betsy and Oliver for having me shoot in your wonderful home (I mean a red door, how could I go wrong?)
